High-Frequency Acoustic Stimulator

Price range: USD $1,100.00 through USD $2,700.00

High-frequency acoustic stimulator available in 1- or 2-channel versions, with optional integrated waveform generator. Delivers up to 90 dB SPL at 40 kHz (25 cm) and supports frequencies up to 90 kHz. Accepts analog input from an external waveform generator or operates standalone with the optional built-in generator.

SKU: N/A Category:

The High-Frequency Acoustic Stimulator is a versatile and precise system designed to deliver controlled acoustic stimuli in the audible to ultrasonic range, up to 90 kHz. It is offered in four configurations:

  • Single-channel (no generator)

  • Dual-channel (no generator)

  • Single-channel with integrated waveform generator

  • Dual-channel with integrated waveform generator

When purchased without the integrated generator, the user simply connects their own analog waveform generator to the analog input ports (ANA IN1 / ANA IN2). The device then amplifies this signal and drives the ultrasonic emitters. When equipped with the built-in generator, users can create, edit, and manage acoustic stimuli entirely through the included software.

Key Specifications

  • Sound level: 90 dB SPL at 40 kHz (25 cm)

  • Maximum frequency: 90 kHz

  • Number of channels: 1 or 2

  • Emitter dimensions: Ø 47 mm × 29 mm height

  • Mounting: 6.35 mm rod holder, compatible with Labeo Magnetic Stand

  • Connectivity: Trigger IN, Trigger OUT, ANA IN1, ANA IN2

Trigger and Control

Hardware trigger inputs allow precise synchronization of acoustic sequences using TTL signals. This enables deterministic stimulus delivery within complex experimental paradigms.

Software (optional)

The comprehensive control software (included with models featuring the built-in generator) enables full stimulus design and automation. Users can create and save audio files, execute frequency sweeps, and manage timing protocols with ease.

Acoustic Stimulator User Interface

Compatibility

Seamlessly integrates with our Behavioral Rig, VR Setup, and OiS200 Imaging System.

Applications

  • Tonotopy studies: Mapping neural response to sound frequency

  • High-frequency auditory processing in mice: Study how ultrasonic vocalizations are encoded along the auditory pathway, from the auditory nerve to the midbrain.

  • Closed-loop high-frequency vocalization playback: Play back recorded ultrasonic vocalizations (compatible with MouseTube files) in real time, enabling closed-loop experiments where sounds are sent back to animals based on their behavior.

  • Positive or negative reinforcement in behavioral tasks

Safety Notice

This system emits high-frequency, non-audible sound. Prolonged exposure near the ear can cause hearing damage. Operate with caution and limit close-range exposure.
